Autumn in the Library - We’re Trying New Things!

Autumn 2020 has meant changes to the Brompton Academy Library. This opportunity has been seized and we are trying new things!

Welcome Quiz

Our new students were welcomed with our traditional Newbie Quiz in a completely paper free way! Entries answering questions about favourite childhood stories were fabulous with high scores and five winners! All winners received a goodie bag!

Brompton Academy Book Butler

Students are placing online requests for bespoke book deliveries. Students can request a particular book, opt for fiction genre or non-fiction categories to receive a personally selected book for them in a hygienic Book Butler bag. Returned books are quarantined and cleaned before being loaned again. and look forward to supporting students in the courageous task of speaking in public.

Reading Together
As we adapt to being back in formal learning, we are taking this opportunity to share some amazing fiction with Year 7.

  • The Day I was Erased by Lisa Thompson - a fun and lively story about family dynamics and personal responsibility.

  • Now is the Time for Running by Michael Williams- a challenging story for family and life in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Magazine Review Group

Two innovative magazines for primary aged children: Cocoa Girl and Cocoa Boy were launched this summer. A small group of students are forming a review group to report back on the magazines and explore possibilities for magazines for secondary age students.

Twelve Books of Christmas

Students are having fun with our Twelve Books of Christmas competition identifying Christmas classics and contemporary gems from the book covers and clues. Winners will receive a super sack of festive goodies!
