Elements of Music

This term, students in Years 7-9 have been looking at the Elements of Music through composition on GarageBand. We have also explored music from around the world: Samba from Brazil, Djembe Drumming from West Africa and Reggae from Jamaica. We have discovered the descriptive Programme Music, Music for Film and explored genres such as Electronic Dance Music, Motown, Soul and Modern Pop.

Phase 2 – Rock School Ltd - RSL Level 2 Music Practitioners

Our RSL Level 2 students have been looking at and analysing songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, War Pigs and Another Brick in The Wall (Part 2) and researching the history and etymology of 2 genres as part of their coursework.

Phase 3 – Rock School Ltd - RSL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners

Students in Year 12 have been looking critically at themselves as musicians, and through a series of rehearsals have built up their skills to be strong musicians. Year 13 have been looking at, and preparing for an audition, in order to ready themselves for interviews (and auditions) at university and beyond.

New Level 2 (GCSE) Pathway

We are very excited to offer a new pathway to our Level 2 qualification. Students can now choose to focus on performance or production! We encourage students to speak to their Music teacher if you would like some more information.
