Sports Day this year took place across two days, with the new introduction of the lower school and upper school Sports days. The lower school sports day took place on Wednesday 13th July, and the upper school sports day was held on Thursday 14th July. This year was the first year that students were taking part within their Mini Schools, and sports day was the final event for students to battle to win the overall mini school reward day.
Students had the opportunity to take part in field events such as shot put, high jump, javelin, discus and track events from 1500m down to 100m. Students also had the chance to battle it out in a game of tug of war which was a roaring success.
Turing students put on fundraisers to raise money for Carers First, which is a charity that provides respite care for young carers. Students had planned their fundraisers during their Mini School time, and were able to promote and deliver the activities they had planned. We also had an ice cream van, bbq, students selling refreshments, and soak and gunge the teacher!
It was amazing seeing the whole school come together and support each other. The students absolutely loved it and there were some excellent sporting performances on show. Overall, Turing came out on top winning sports day for all four year groups. Well done Miss Mulvihill for your strong leadership!
Well done to everyone who was involved in the day, students you were fantastic and staff worked incredibly hard to make this day such a success.
