On Friday 29th April, over 120 Brompton Academy students took part in a 7-a-side football tournament held on the Academy all weather pitch. This event was organised to raise money for the Young Lives Foundation (YLF). The tournament was organised by Mr Kasongo, a University of Kent student with support from a range of volunteers. The event proved to be a huge success as students across all year groups took to the pitch to enjoy a Friday afternoon of football. All of our students who attended on the day found themselves displaying key attributes which included being tactical, showing accuracy, working well as a team, and being determined. Some students also took part in an agility circuit which took place on the hardcourt in order to win prizes!
The three students who completed the circuit in the quickest times were Kairell (14.36 seconds), Jordon (14.89 seconds), and Lauren (15.32 seconds). The prizes for our winners included Amazon gift cards and a free ‘family swim’ voucher to use at Medway Park!
Students raised £122.50 for the YLF. The YLF are a charity who work alongside children and young people to support them through times of difficulty and distress. The charity also works to enable the voices of young people whilst championing their rights and interests. It was great to have representatives of the charity in attendance on the day, including YLF mascot Lenny the Lion taking photos with some of our students. The CEO of YLF, Stephen Gray, said “The team supporting the football event, the staff at Brompton Academy and all the students, whether playing or watching, were so welcoming. I was really impressed with how polite and engaging all the students were - they are a credit to the Academy.”
The day was a huge success. Congratulations to all of our students who took part - you were all winners on the day!
